SFP functionality on CRS125-24G-1S

Hello!
My CRS125-24G-1S gets more and more load and is also a little bit old fashioned as a Router. I wanna degrade that device just being a switch and transfer the routing to a RB5009.
Therefore I want to connect the RB5009 with the CRS125 with 2.5G ethernet. Has anyone checked the SFP on the CRS125 with a RJ45 TRX? I wanna use this one:
https://www.fs.com/de/products/139650.html
Rightnow I use a BIDI 1G Fiber TRX from fs.com in the CRS125 as WAN connection and that works fine!
Any hints are welcome!
Thx, Holger

CRS 125 does not support anything above 1G
Keep in mind CRS 125 is discontinued, plus is an old device
Your mileage can vary but trying modern modules on that device can be a recipe for problems

Hi!
Thx for ur answer!
The table in the wiki
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/MikroTik ... /25G_SFP28
lists quite a lot of modules higher than 1G working with that device. Therefore the question: Has someone tried that already?
Buying a new switch is senseless due to that fact that Mikrotik offers nothing new with 24ports. The CRS326-24G-2S+RM is also an old design and not much better as the CRS125 as a Switch.

I beg to differ: CRS326-24G-2S+ has two SFP+ (10Gbps) ports while CRS125 has one SFP (1Gbos) port. In addition CRS326 supports (limited)
L3HW offloading and can thus serve as a wirespeed router in a small(ish) multi-LAN environment (no stateful FW allowed so this feature really has limited usability).
So by all means CRS326 can not be directly compared to CRS125.

Hello all!
I don't want to discuss new HW for my switch, but nevertheless CRS125 does HW offloading in ROS v6, there is no need for 2 SFP+.
The only question was whether anyone had tested such SFP modules in the CRS125!?
If it is not working I need a new 24-copper-port Router with one SFP for WAN uplink. Mikrotik does not have such a modern device in the portfolio, only old stuff.

... CRS125 does HW offloading in ROS v6...
L2 yes, L3 not. And in v7 the L2 HW offload on CRS125 remains just the same as it was in v6.
Please note that I'm not trying to persuade you into buying a new L2 switch, I'm just fixing some misplaced statements not to mislead other readers. So I simply stated that CRS326 does have some differences compared to CRS125 (but those indeed don't matter in your particular use case).

....and at the end of the day the CRS326 is an old device on an old chip(set) wich is not well supported by ROS v7. We already tested that, btw the same with CRS125.
