LHGG-LTE6 Kit (RBLHGGR) - Only 100Mbit/s over LTE

Sun Oct 22, 2023 2:46 pm

Hello,

I have got a LHGG-LTE6 Kit (RBLHGGR) and an ISP access contract with 200/30 Mbit/s (LTE4G).
The problem is that no more than a maximum of 100 Mbit/s is possible via the LTE connection. (no matter what time of/or day)

Infos:
MikroTik Model: LHGG-LTE6 Kit (RBLHGGR)
RouterOS: 7.11.2
RouterBOARD Firmware: 7.11.2
Modem Firmware: R11e-LTE6_V035

RouterOS Default Settings
Changes:
ISP APN Name
LTE Cell-Lock
No CA-Band

Cabling: Lan Cat6A 1Gbit (directly connected to my Notebook HP EliteBook 650 G10)
(ether1 Status: Rate 1Gbps)

The LHGG-LTE6 Kit is mounted on the outside (upper floor) of the house.

Cell Tower: direct visible line of sight with a distance about 3 Kilometers

Signal:

I did a comparison test with the ISP router (ZTE MC801A - LTE Cat 20) where I achieved an average speed up to 180 Mbit/s
I also tested 2 different SIM cards (one with 200/30 Mbit/s and one with 500/60 Mbit/s)

no matter what I tried - no more than 100 Mbit/s is possible with the LHGG-LTE6 Kit

Thank you in advance for any information or help to solve this problem.

Best regards

Hello,
Problem solved:

LHGG LTE6 Kit: LTE Category 6 (300Mbit/s downlink, 50Mbit/s uplink)
These are theoretical values.

Practical values: 150Mbit/s downlink, 25Mbit/s uplink

My case in real life: 100Mbit/s downlink, 25Mbit/s uplink

In summary, I will calculate like this in the future:
Router LTE values, stated by the manufacturer divided by 2 - 33%
The result will roughly correspond to what is possible in a real application.

In the next few days I will test the LHG LTE18 kit, results will follow.

Best regards

Mikrotik cheats customers with LTE6 modems. I have an LTE6 phone - download is about 220-240 Mbps and upload about 40-45 Mbps. When I insert the same SIM into the Mikrotik RBwAPGR-5HacD2HnD-LTE6, the download speed is about 90-100 Mbps (sometimes up to 110 Mbps) and upload about 40-45 Mbps, although the modem connects to two fast channels B7 or B3 and B7. If the modem connects to one B7 channel, then the download speed is only 70-80 Mbps not more.
Pathetic scammers from Mikrotik. It doesn't depend on the RouterOS version, it's just a scam - they declares that these are LTE6 300/50 Mbps modems, but they use normal LTE 150/50 Mbps modems and sell them for higher price.

Hello,

I've been using the LHG LTE18 kit for a few days now and my assumption was right. Download speeds of up to 200 Mbit/s are possible without any problems. However, not with the LHGG LTE6 kit!

I will do more tests in the next few days and share my results.

I think the LTE6kit only has a 10/100 network connection and the newer CAT18 units have Gigabit network connectivity.

Wouldn't that be where the bottleneck is?

I think it has a 1000BaseT port.

The central difference between a smartphone and something like LHGG is phones are typically 4x4 MIMO, while the LHGG is only 2x2 MIMO. You double the antennas in use, you get different results.

If the phone is getting >200Mbs in same location as LHGG, then it may not have been the right choice. The LHGG is more designed to pickup weak signals from a distance, than to maximize speed in cases where coverage is good.

Now, in fairness to your complaints, I'm not sure the Quectel modems they use are "best in class"... but they are cheaper I'm sure & that's reflected in the price of LHGG over other LTE products.

hi,

No, the LHGG LTE6 Kit has 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Port - https://mikrotik.com/product/lhgg_lte6_kit
