Locked Out of CCR1009 After Disabling Auto Negotiation

Hello everyone,

I'm facing a challenging issue with my CCR1009 and would really appreciate any help or suggestions you can offer. While the router itself is functioning normally and distributing traffic correctly through other ports, I have been locked out.

Recently, I disabled auto negotiation on ether1 but forgot to use the safe mode. Unfortunately, ether1 was the only port through which I was able to access the router. I attempted to connect another MikroTik router to it, trying every possible speed combination, but nothing worked.

I also tried to access the router via the serial port, but it gets stuck at "Starting services..." and goes no further. Attempts to connect using every MAC address on the ports also yielded no results.

In an effort to resolve the issue, I updated the firmware to version 6.49.10 via netinstall while keeping the previous configuration, but this didn't fix the problem.

To make matters worse, I don't have a backup of the configuration.

I'm desperately trying to gain access to the router or at least retrieve a backup of the configuration. If anyone has any ideas or methods that could help in this situation, I would be immensely grateful for your advice.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hello,

I am trying to understand. Your "auto negotiation" means DHCP or interface ethernet auto negotiation? Interface auto negotiation should not hinder the ethernet connection (only for gigabit!!) so you might try a small trick, get your hands on a fast ethernet switch (10/100) and use it to clamp down your speed.
Of course you can do it directly by setting your interface card of the device you are trying to connect with to 100Mbs half or full from your device or even 10Mbps. If this is not working maybe you did something else besides disable auto negotiation on that interface. Like disabling it completely... or assigning it to a bridge...
Even so, interesting choice of selecting eth1 for access purpose...

Serial console should work, maybe you do not have the right USB to RS232 adapter or the pinout of your cable is incomplete.
Try a computer COM port with a full cable. Not sure what "color" of your connecting device is: win or lin.

There is another method but I am not sure the microusb can host anything, maybe by using an OTG adapter you can connect a https://mikrotik.com/product/woobm if you can still manage to get one of those. Anav, please do not jump again.

Kind regards.

Hello @paulz,

Thank you for your help. It was a lifesaver.

Auto negotiation was disabled on interface ethernet.
I couldn't connect via serial console because it was disabled, too.

I managed to gain access using the Woobm-USB :D

I wish you could have tested also by simple downgrade of the speed in connecting device interface as 10/100 does not have auto negotiation restriction but I am glad it worked by woobm-usb, I just found a few days ago on the forum that it was discontinued. :(
You can mark this as solved.

Kind regards.
