Can't connect to new L009

Tue Dec 26, 2023 3:36 am

Hi,

I got a new L009 and trying to connect to it without any success. L009 port1 is connected to my ISP modem that assigned it an IP address. I tried http/telnet to that IP address but no response (connection timed out). If I ping that IP address I get a response.

Winbox doesn't connect neither to either IP address or MAC address. Appreciate any help !

Winbox does not connect to which IP address? 192.168.88.1, the default? Connecting to a port which is not port 1? Using the password printed on the L009 label?

The WAN address assigned has nothing to do with the downstream address for your devices.

Thank you for the reply. winbox doesn't connect to the DHCP IP address assigned by the ISP modem (192.168.2.0/24). I also just tried port2 of L009, no dice. Hmm I thought the password is blank, but thanks to your response I noticed there's a password. Though it's a connection timed out long before I get a login page.

I don't have any devices connected to the switch, just want to login so I can configure it.

Oh this is funky, so after I connected port2 to the ISP modem, now Winbox has two discovered entries ! One is the ISP DHCP WAN assigned address (192.168.2.0/24 -> port1), and the default 192.168.88.1 (port2)... I guess the default on this switch is running a DHCP server ?

So I'd have to connect a laptop into other ports, assign an IP in 192.168.88.0/24 ? Now I can connect using winbox and the MAC address of port 2, but I get two windows & then it auto logs out. Jeez this isn't friendly.

Ok, so I figured it out with your above help and lots of fiddling:
1- By default the L009 is in "router" mode not "bridge"
2- Port1 seems to be special, so I needed to connect port2 to my ISP modem. By default, port1 is WAN, all other ports are configured as LAN.
3- I was able to login using Winbox & the MAC address that showed up for Port2, then I changed the L009 to "bridge" mode
4- I still can't login using www but at least winbox helps until I figure out why www service doesn't work.
5- I had to disable firewall rule: defconf: drop all not coming from LAN to get www working

Reset to default config.
Connect port I to ISP. It is a DHCP client.
Connect your computer to port 2 (or higher). It is a DHCP server, distributing addresses in the 192.168.88.0/24 range.
Connect admin with given password and configure the router.
