Slow interface performance CRS326-24G-2S+  [SOLVED]

Wed Jan 31, 2024 1:42 pm

Hi,

I have CRS326-24G-2S+ in small data center with a few physical server connected to it. On these servers (Proxmox) I have a couple of VM or LXC containers. I noticed some kind of bad network performance while doing NFS backup, on two servers only. So I installed iperf3 and made some tries on VMs, then directly on Proxmox hosts. The results are weird. Most servers (physical or VM) runs around 940 Mbits/sec, but I have two servers with around 459 Mbits/sec. I checked all settings in Proxmox (debian), I checked all settings on Mikrotik, but I could not found a problem. All interfaces seems have the same settings. The interesting thing is that when I runs iperf test on good servers it has no impact to CPU on Mikrotik, but when I run tests on "bad" servers Mikrotik CPU load raised.

So I suspected some kind of networking problems, but I could not find anything. Bad info is that I am unable to restart Mikrotik nor upgrade.
So I am trying to figure it out somehow without restarting.

I would appreciate any tips.

THX

It seems that HW offload is disabled for some reason on those certain ports. Execute /interface/bridge/port/print on terminal window and check if all ports have a 'H' in status column (between index number and interface name, without column header).

If you can not determine which setting does it, then post (full) config of switch for review.

It sounds promising, but not. All my active interfaces have HW-OFFLOAD.

I tried to disable those bad interfaces for 3 seconds and enabled them again and speed is now OK.

I am happy now.
