Recommendation for WiFi Mess equipment

Sun Jun 30, 2024 4:53 pm

Hello, I need to cover an area of 120 m2, I had thought of buying 2 HAP AX2 or HAP AX3. Logically I would have to use capsman. The connection speed is not a problem as it would be mostly for home automation.
How best to deploy Capsman in a home for 2 wireless access points? I have some experience using HEX, but i never had wifi equipment from Mikrotik.
Should one of these teams act as a Capsman controller or would it be necessary to add a third team to do controller work?

Kind regards

If you have two devices, you can configure one as capsman and the other one as cap.
Point being if it is worth the hassle for just one controlled AP (the cap) to add the (complexity of) capsman management.
From what I understand, the advantage with capsman is for more than two AP's (besides the one that acts as capsman) and for some better roaming between devices, unless your home automation devices are moving robots or similar there won't (shouldn't) be much issues with them attempting to change connection to the "other" AP.

Thanks. One doubt, the router that acts like cap is like an AP but the router that acts as capsman can act as AP? I meant capsman and cap at same time, i'm not sure if a HAP AX2 or AX3 is powerfull enought to perform a capsman's job.

You can also look at cAP ax, if you don't need ethernet ports.. And for CAPsMAN, you don't need anything powerful to run CAPsMAN, it just tells to connected APs "hey use this config"..
