HapAx3

Wed Aug 14, 2024 7:49 am

Hi ladies and gents i have a question regarding my setup on my HapAx3 running 7.16rc2 , this problem has always been this before the latest rc2 os
i have a hapax3 as my main router
and i have capax connected to the 2 and 3 lan port all good no problem
next i have a Hapax2 in capsman mode running on lan 4 it is as you can see in the picture under bridge and ports it is role as root port when all the rest are designated ports??
when i reboot the hapax2 it kicks me out of winbox/reboots the Haxpax3 main router??
is this normal or do i need to change some settings and or have i got something not right?
i have been having a little internet issues and i have been digging around to see what might be the cause and i found this. it is trying to be the router still? not a cap?

Don't worry about root port, it doesn't matter in this case.
when i reboot the hapax2 it kicks me out of winbox/reboots the Haxpax3 main router??
are you by any chance connected to this main router through the wifi network that is provided by this hAP ax2 controlled AP? when it reboots, you will lose all connections, since you are connected to it

no mate im ethernet connected to the hapax3 via switch via ethernet from lan5 of main router of hapax3
the hapax2 is running straight from ether4 port on the main router no switch involved running the power injector straight there to hapax2
i am finding that this hapax3 is a little unstable at time trying to put my finger on it but it is random.
i have made a complete new config a couple times
but nothing seems to fix the internet droping or the slowing down of the internet
i have tried all betas and now rc2 as well seems to be a little better
but yer the reboot of the hapax2 seems to reboot the hapax3 for some reason, hoping for some help from the forums

Take the time to read and understand the doc about bridging and spanning tree.
I've just do this few days ago because, like you i don't understood what's happened too.

After reading everything, i've set STP like recommanded for my setup, bridge priority, set few bridge port's parameters and enable MVRP.
And now i understand what happen and no more root bridge moves ! Thank mkt for theses very good docs.

The most usefull doc i've read are :
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... +Switching
and
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... e+Protocol
