MikroTik CHR P1 Licence

Tue Aug 20, 2024 4:19 pm

Hi guys. I'm new at this forum but I need some help. I have a CHR machine on VMware with a P1 license. I want to add more CPUs to it because average CPU use is over 50%.

My question here is: If I add more CPUs to the virtual machine, will the router license be affected?

Thanks all if you can help me.

normally the cpu core count does not affect your P1 license
as long as the License Software ID does not change (which only occurs if you setup chr on another VM or forcefully refresh/regenerate the SOFTWARE ID on a CHR installation)

Hi - you should be fine to add as many CPUs as you want.

The System ID is generated on first boot and doesn't change for the lifetime of the VM unless you do it manually.

Even if it did change you can always assign the license from the Mikrotik customer portal to the new ID.
