CAPSMAN and Wifi Wave2

Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:48 pm

I've got a CCR1009 (obviously no standalone Wireless or Wave2 package installed by default) that's on v7.12.1. I've setup CAPsMAN and any devices that use legacy wireless (not Wave2) are being seen in remote CAP but Wave2 devices are not.

Based on some research it seems like CAPsMAN should pick up legacy and Wave2 devices alike, is this not the case? Do I need to install the Wave2 package separately in order for CAPsMAN to detect these devices?

WifiWave2 CAPsMAN
WifiWave2 CAPsMAN can only control WifiWave2 interfaces, and WifiWave2 CAPs can join only WifiWave2 CAPsMAN, similarly, regular CAPsMAN only supports non-WifiWave2 caps.

This is the updated documentation page: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/WiFi
You should update the device to latest stable version, there Wifi CAPsMAN is built-in system package, and to use Wireless CAPsMAN you have to install wireless package. They both can be used on the same device, but you will have to manage both of them separately - since they are in different menus.
