I have only just discovered "The dude" and I like it a lot.

I am just running a home network and have some questions.

So basically I have 3 windows PC's and a Print Server plus a wireless router on on 192.168.1.x.
On PC is running "The Dude" server.

I have added my the router true ISP IP address manually, same for the first machine at the ISP. i.e. ISP gateway. Trouble is that if I have to restart my router it gets a new IP address and the ISP gateway also probably changes. Is there anyway I can get the thing setup automatically via discovery. The router supports snmp does this help at all?

Also adding the true IP address as a second address on the router 192.168.1.1 does not seem to have any effect, is this correct.

I have only tried version 2.2 would the beta make any difference?

Have added pdf file of network

U can put a DNS address in. If you have MT it can dynamically chage address. Or , use a private IP vs the public.

Not sure I understand

Not sure that helps. If I restart the router and the IP address the ISP allocates changes then so does the DNS name.

If I use DNS lookup on the router it just finds its IP address inside the NAT lan, not the IP address that the ISP has assigned it.

Also what is MT?. Sorry don't understand the terminology

Okay I could write a script that logged on to my router from a machine (Same as Dude Server ) inside the NAT and get hold of the IP address assign by my ISP for the router and its gateway in the ISP. i.e. a grep on ifconfig.

Is there a way to then add these two machines to the Local Map?
