RB4011 backup

Tue Dec 03, 2024 3:31 pm

Hello,

I have a RB4011 which worked fine. I have backups.

Now the RB4011 went down, it doesnt work anymore.

I´ve bought a new one, but I´m not sure if I can use this backup file to restore the setup.

What do you mean?

Thanks

From the documentation:

https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/spaces/R ... 852/Backup (RouterOS V7.x)
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/Manual:System/Backup (RouterOS V6.x)

Quote from the latter:
RouterOS backup feature allows you to save your current device's configuration, which then can be re-applied on the same or a different device (with the same model name/number).
So...yes. But be aware that the MAC addresses are cloned (as well).
Personally I prefer to store the config, which can be used to restore a MikroTik device (except for users and certificates).

thanks. for the next time I will backup as usual and also the confi, but this time I have to use the backup file.

one more question, do you know if the cloud address changes?

and what about the certificates, do I have to create them again?

As far as I know it is a binary clone. So it should contain everything.
