adlist usage frustration

So I tried again to use DNS adlist.

I set it up to use:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts
Technically, it works.

But, one of (many) web sites I go is cnbc.com, where I was greeted by this:

Clicking "continue" brings me here:

And here is the current DNS cache of 0.0.0.0 sites:

And, cnn.com videos won't play either.

So, adlist breaks my web browsing.

What do people do?

Nope, the content of the list you use are using for adlist is breaking web browsing. The cache you are showing is very odd...I wouldn't expect www.google.com not on the list. Perhaps an idea to contact Steven Black on this?

Thanks for restating my conclusion more clearly.

Now that we agree that the list I am using is breaking web browsing, can you suggest a list that will not break it?

As for what people are doing for a living: Isn't everyone here a professional forumer? :)

There are several variants of hosts lists. Choose one that is not that aggressive in blocking.

Nice!!

That list, which has 231837 entries vs. stevenblack's list with 132182 entries, does not block cnbc.com or cnn.com's videos (which are preceeded by ads which I think that which was being caught and blocked).

No, no, no... You are the guru!
