What I need is really simple I think, I want to route between 2 LANs, and I configure the interface eth0 as192.168.16.2/24 and eth1 as 192.168.17.2.

I just want to route 192.168.16.0/24 <-> 192.168.17.0/24.

What I have to configure?

Do you need a gateway for eather of the nets or is one the gateway for the other? or is this simply routing between the two with no external pathway?

IF it is just the two of them and no external pathways, just define the IP addresses on the two interfaces. by default traffic will be routed...

You can shape etc from there..
