Fri Feb 22, 2008 9:26 am

It seems to be, R52H cards (installed on RB600), was turned on without connected antennas (but pigtales was connected).
Is it possible to detect: cards transmiters is damaged or not?

Greetings!

Without expensive test equipment, the best way is connect them to an antenna and try them. Normally, they work or they don't, and the difference is obvious when you get over 100 feet away or so.

The final stage amplifier can fail and cause no other damage to the rest of the circuit. In some cases, I have seen the preamp signal on a failed unit bleed through enough to cause a client lock on the signal at very close range. But more than several feet away, the signal strength drops dramatically and the client loses the lock.

Is that a seagoat or a goatgull?

Open RF shield, remove heat dispersive rubber and you can see two small chips 2,4GHz and 5GHz PA from SST If you see small black hole on one of this chip that mean it's 100% burned.

If the shield and rubber is removed, can it be reassembled if there is no black hole on either amp? Can the heat dispersing rubber be replaced?

Yes of course. Some times PA burn and you can see black burning on PA and rubber, some times it burn without any visible defect and only Spectrum analyzer or Power meter can help you check it.
