RB333 reboot (cause 1) possible resolution

Wed May 28, 2008 3:06 am

I have seen many different post about the RB333 rebooting randomly.

It looks like we have found the resolution to our problem. When first installed we were using a tr-24f power supply (tranzeo 24 volt). Now with the RB333 you can run the command /sytem health print and see the voltage. We noticed that it was sitting right around 30 volts. On the RB333 overvoltage protection kicks in at 30 volts, causing our router to go down for hours at a time, and come back up when the voltage dropped.

To confirm this theory we replace the tr-24f with a 18 volt pacwireless poe, and our router has been up for 4days now.

I would be interested to hear if this helped any one else so please post your results.

We were on 12V deep cycle lead acid batteries with a charger, running at 13.4 volts. This was plotted for all the time it was up and rarely varied 0.1 Volt. We have been running it on the bench with 3.10 and 2.15 firmware. We will probably test it back in the field next week.

We were thinking of testing the voltage of the 24 volt power supply we removed, but have not done this yet. When we replaced it with an 18 volt the RB333 software now reports the voltage at a steady 18.8, and has been up now for 1w4d.
