Hotspot Service and PPtP simultaneous ?

Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:20 pm

Hi MT Users,

is it possible to use the Hotspot service and the VPN (PPtP) simultaneous?

That means, for a large installation with wired and wireless clients, we would like to offer both, either logon via Web-Interface (Hotspot service) and VPN Dialin.

Hotspot would be nice for the wired clients, and VPN would be secure for the wireless Clients.

Any hints ???

How would he? I think it is possible to provide him a possibility to connect to the PPTP server, or else he will be obligated to use HotSpot

I think that it will not be possible with MT, as far as I read the manual. Because of that I asked the question here ...

If user connects via PPTP the hotspot service has to be infomed somehow and don't present the Web login for that user, and vica versa ...

I think we remain with PPTP, no Hotspot (Web based) login ... IPSec would be nice, but not with our embedded boards ...

How many PPTP you suggest with a routerboard (266mhz)??

Usually, HotSpot is working on a particular interface. any tunnel established a new [virtual] interface, so the existing HotSpot should not interfere with these tunnels, imho

This should be possible.
I'm using HotSpot and PPPoE on the same interface.
(ThoughI tried it with PPtP and could'nt get it to work so I gave up!)
