CF is good and fast. New models don't suffer from short life

currently no RouterBOARDS are made that support hard disks, but you could use RB1000 or RB600 that have CF slots. Also you can use the microSD slot on the RB433AH

Just tried 120x 4GB CF in RB/600 version 3.10 / Bios 2.15

If the CF module is installed, the RB/600 won't boot up, LAN3 socket leds are lit and nothing more happens.

The same module was just pulled from RB/532A where it was used as disk for web-proxy, and it has ext2 filesystem on it with all the proxy data.

I guess the RB/600 tries to boot from this CF.

Please can you give some guidelines for choosing and preparing the CF for RB/600.
Is the low-level format required?

try another brand or type. rb600 doesn't support all kinds of CFs

You are right.
2GB Kingston 133x (Elite Pro, code CF/2GB-S2) works fine.

The bad CF was PQI 4GB 120x HiSpeed.

It would be useful to have page in Wiki with information about tested CF and microSD cards, with table updated by users.

I've just updated the wiki with two more cards for the 433AH.
