Radio disables itself

Sat Apr 02, 2005 11:31 pm

Running 2.8.26 on an RB230 with two NL2511CD-Ext2 (802.11b Prism 200mW) and an RB44 (4 Port Ethernet Card /w auto MDI/X).

One radio (in slot A) disables itself after running for awhile.

Initially it did so after 10 mintues to an hour. After switching the PCMCIA radios in slots A and B, everything worked for about a week. At this point the radio in slot A disabled itself. In my mind, this rules out the radio as the problem as it seems to be slot specific.

Both radios have firmware 1.1.1/1.7.4.

Could this be caused by static from the antennas? The cables for both cards pass though grounded lightning arrestors about 4 feet after the pigtail, while still inside the building, before continuing on the antennas outdoors.

Any other ideas?

I'm probably going to try switching the RB230 board out this evening for another.

Thanks

Switching out the board seamed to have fixed the problem. We even kept the same Radio's and memory card that held the OS and didn't experience the same issue with just the replacement board.

Anyone ?

I ran into this a few days ago (for the first time). AP was up and working fine for days until i winboxed into it - about 10 seconds later it locked. Upon reboot, the card was disabled, the settings were gone, but all things non-wireless were fine. I reconfigured it and walked away slowly...No idea what the problem is. 2.8.26 with 1 5212 on a "other" board.
