Routerboard 433 in reboot loop

Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:22 pm

Hello, this is my first time posting here and first time using a RouterBoard and the Mikrotik RouterOS, so please forgive some of my ignorance.

I have a RouterBoard 433, foolishly the first thing I did with it was to connect to it with WinBox, which worked fine.

I saw both Atheros Mini-PCI radios I had installed, so I tried enabling them both to see if they would automatically work.

Well, I noticed later that WinBox said both radios where at 5ghz, but these are 2.4ghz radios.

The RouterBoard then proceeded to crash after that, it is now unable to boot without crashing so I can not access it through Ethernet with WinBox.

My question is:
I do not know the Software Key for my RouterOS licence, it came pre-installed on my RouterBoard.

How would I recover this key from the Routerboard? Can I simply reinstall the RouterOS with NetInstall and it will pick up the license file that's on my RouterBoard?

Yes, RouterOS license came pre-installed on this board.

Yes, netinstall should fix your board, netinstall should not influence the license.

If you are able to reproduce the way, how you can make RouterOS to crash. Let us know the configuration steps, so we can reproduce the same problem and fix it as soon as possible.
