You can certainly make it work as a router (that's the whole point of it) but you'll still need to plug in a plain old DSL modem into one of the Ethernet ports.

Thanks for your reply.

This could work but I don't know how Mikrotik will see the card though. Sorry but no experience there.

On v3.x most of the cards will not work (except farsync), but you can try v2.9.

THERE IS NO ADSL suport in RouterOS.

You MUST use an external device....

I have been asking for it for about 4 years...

Not enough demand..... to build the code..

Seriously? Not enough demand? Thats crazy. Everyone I know uses these somewhere connected to DSL in South Africa and they are loosing business not offereing this option on at least ONE router. Would be nice if it was also a gigabit router with at least one wireless slot so that it compares to other ADSL modem routers.

If you have a device running RouterOS which has a PCI slot then you can use one of the ADSL cards we sell.

http://linitx.com/product/12181 - currently out of stock, but we are getting some more.

This card appears as a realtek interface with an adsl router attached to it so you simply add a dhcp client to it and then
connect to the card's web interface to configure it like any separate ADSL modem.

We have also talked to MikroTik about ADSL inside their products, as there is still a huge demand for it in the UK, but again they didn't seem very interested.

Nick.

We have been using Draytek Vigor 120 ADSL Ethernet Modems with Routerboards that require ADSL, config is a breeze and done completely in the Routerboard.

Still would be better if it was just one device.

I agree one device would be nice but is it that important? Most of our customers either have a T1, ADSL, or cable modem; some of which REQUIRE a box from the provider. So as nice as it would be I am not sure it makes "business sense" for mikrotik to create these. How high would the demand actually be?

We can wish though :)

Hi Guys,

Could someone post a simple but working config using a Dreytek Vigor 120 Modem with a RB750 in a SOHO type setup with a dynamic public IP NAT'd to private IP's on a DHCP server on the LAN side please? Just need to get my head around the NAT and some simple firewall rules.

Many thanks

Steve
