How to set up www-ssl?

Greetings,

I'm working on setting up a hotspot using user-manager for user control. In following the steps to do so, it was clear that I needed to enable www-ssl.

So, I've followed the instructions for setting up certificates, but all I am able to get after loading a certificate is:
Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s).

(Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
That's when I try with FireFox 3. I also tried with IE6, and it just gave its' normally useless and uninformative "Page could not be displayed".

I followed the setup quite exactly, both with my valid certificate from starfield and with a self-signed certificate I generated myself. Both result in the same error.

To be more precise I created a key file, and generated a certificate with it. I then uploaded the certificate and key, imported the certificate, then imported the key.

Even though I reset the www-ssl service, after rebooting with the self signed certificate installed, it started properly presenting the certificate.
