We have used Trendnet modems with great success (this meaning no hangs, burned ones, etc). There's no problem of compatibility of DSL Modems with MikroTik Routers (i would recommend anything that can be turned into a DSL bridge) so you can do what you want.

Use an ethernet modem, I can recommend:
- Thomson SpeedTouch 546v6 and 536
- Dynalink RTA1320
- TrendNet modems
- Siemens SpeedStream 4200
