RB433AH + XR5 + Newb = Issues

First off hello to everyone, I just purchased my first mikrotik 433AH last week. I've been using The Dude for a long time and finally read enough about mikrotik that i decided to give it a shot to maybe have it help with our Ubiquiti setup. So I purchased the RB433AH and a ubiquiti XR5, my whole thing is to make it a PtMP and have NS5's connecting back to the tower. So we used winbox to get connect to the RB433AH and it picked up the XR5 right away, no hassle, winbox actually made it very simple to configure everything, it was really pretty self explanatory. However when we had it mounted to the tower with a 4ft. LMR400 jumper connected to a 16db 60degree Sector Panel antenna, and then later a 15db sector panel antenna, it faired no better than the NS5 we had on the tower. Im wondering if anyone else has this type of configuration deployed and if maybe i can get a hand, since we've swapped antennas we seem to think its a config issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance..

welcome to the forum!

tell us your wireless configuration, and also - how did you compare the performance when you say that the only problem was " it faired no better " ?

basically i have a 480ft tower, originally we used NS5 as our AP and as our client, what i mean by it doesn't fair any better i meant by distance. The NS5 by itself on the tower got me about 4miles, but we wanted to try the XR5 on a RB433AH and i've tried it hooked up to a 15db and 16db sector antenna's. I have it set for 40mhz channels, today i will try 20mhz, i know everything is hooked up correctly, im just wondering if i missed a configuration step or maybe someone out there has a similar setup that they might know a few tricks or tips on this...
