Will routeros 2.9 have the same problems that 2.8 has with randomly disconnecting clients that are connected to it via pppoe?

I have written to support many a times, and when i recieve an answer, its not very conclusive. I am also not the only one here that has the same problem. There have been quite a few posting about this, and the funny thing is that this never used to happen before. It started i think iv os version 2.8.19 or the onr just after that.

if anyone has this problem here, please - write to support with a detailed problem description and supout.rif files that are made at the moment the problem is happening. only with these files we can solve a problem if there is any

We administer a PPPoE gateway for a customer of ours.
Initially there were quite a few random disconnects but they were all related to firewall, bad network setup, the hopeless microsoft pppoe client and cheap equipment. The firewall dropped keep-alive packets generated by many routers thus disconnecting them every X seconds. And the bad network setup was bad bridge filters (there were none or too permissive ones), default-forward was enabled and pppoe doesnt like that much, cisco switches (they broadcast unicast packets too often). Bad CPE that rebooted, locked up or stopped working due to an external event. And the hopeless Microsoft PPPoE client which disconnects if you just fart in it's general direction. Also alot of CPE will lock up or reboot if they have too many incoming non-ip packets queued up.
Remember some of the equipment you use is probably not designed to be used the way you use it and remember that very few manufacturers actually have experience with networks and thus bad products.

Many times it was the wrong combination of paying customers and cheap equipment. Networks require that you secure it from people and badly behaving equipment - if a customer plugs in a broadcast generator then this must not make the network unstable (just lower the performance) because if you leave it up to the customer they will take it down with or without their knowledge or intent.

Bridged(L2) networks requires a higher level of understanding and experience than IP(L3) does. L2 networks are easy to setup but really hard to get right.

I hope this might help you on your way.

I can assure you that disconnects are not MT version fault.

Please confirm that you are not using booster/amplifier cause disconnects are only happening if there is lot of radio noise.
Check that your cables and connectors aren't wet etc...
If everything is checked then try changing the card...

Cheers...
