Awesome, lots of good bug fixes in the 3.17 release.

I hope we will finally get to see support for IPSEC interface's in the 4.x series, that would allow us to sell a lot more Mikrotik kit to clients, we generally run "route based" aka "IPSEC Interface" vpn's for our clients from a central concentrator then use OSPF accross the IPSEC interfaces to handle all the routing. By having this feature it will allow us to keep our Juniper J23XX and FortiGate concentrators and use Mikrotik at the edge.

I wish for complete torrent downloads... the past 5-6 versions have had missing files every single time.

I also wish for the forums to not come to a crawling hault at times like these.

@changeip, agreed! my torrent downloads are both at 99.61% and 94.92%, and the forum has been very sluggish if not completely unreachable. could barely post this reply.

MetaROUTERs? Anyone have some details on that one, don't see any mention of it in the Wiki or Forums, Google pops up a couple results but not sure if they would apply.

MetaROUTERs? perhaps new routerboard hardware? or a MPLS type of routeros operation?

Is RouterOSv3 documentation going to be updated before 4.0rc1 is released?
There still are a few sections still missing.

Both torrents have some files broken, others files finish.
Since the weekend has already started in Latvia, we might need to wait until monday for it to be fixed.

3.17 torrent has atleast these files broken:
netinstall, all routeros combined images, xen
4.0b1 torrent broken files:
CHANGELOG_rc, routeros-mipsbe-4.0beta1.npk, routeros-x86-4.0beta1.npk
4.0b1 good files:
mikrotik-4.0beta1.iso, netinstall-4.0beta1.zip, routeros combined (mipsle & ppc), xen

Similar to Xen, but MetaRouter is used for the RB400 series boards to create a
virtual routers. Go into the '/metarouter' menu and there you will find the
info. When creating a new router you only need to specify the amount of RAM,
it will automatically choose how much disk to use.
Haven't had the time to play around with it...

i dont think its as much as not having seeders as it is a properly setup .torrent file... or checksums incorrect. this has happened on the past 5-6 torrents posted, so what happened then? MT had to repost ?

Re: RouterOS v3.17, v4.0beta1, The Dude v3 released

The whole problem is mikrotik creates the .torrents and never seeds them at the start...

So I do the same thing I do for every release.. I download the files off the website and have the torrent re-scan the files to verify them and it causes my torrent client to seed what I can.. I would be able to seed everything but the changelog that's posted on the site is never the same that is included in the .torrent.. and the way the .torrent checksum's are calculated using 256k chunks it causes some of the other files to be marked incomplete..

-Gerard

Thanks for whoever helped seed today. I had to leave before I finished downloading all the files from latvia at 4k..

I suspect Mikrotik Metarouters are the equivalent of:

Cisco VRF's
Juniper Virtual Routers
Fortinet Virtual Domains

e.g. a wholly separate routing engine, this is highly useful for security purposes and in complex BGP/OSPF environments.

Metarouter is amazing! The power and functionality this adds in a large deployment like ours is exactly what we need.
We have so many large scale customers that this will be perfect for, especially how we run their traffic over our network.
Mikrotik team thank you! We are excited for this to be stable and will be testing away. We already have it up and running on two routers and on monday will extend it to two test customers if we don't find any problems between now and then.

when installing the routeing-test and the mpls-beta packages we start seeing packet loss across the network. When setting the propagate-ttl=no nothing seems to happen, traceroute still shows hops except for the timeouts from the packetloss.

setup is the same as you have in all your documents. (R1-R2-R3-R4-R5 + R3-R5).

Will a supout help?

correction, i was not aware that the propagate-ttl=no is nogotiated from the ingress router downstream to all LSR's in the LSP.
By installing the Mpls-Beta only on the edge and leaving all other (all Provider Routers) with the stock 3.17 mpls + routing modules and only setting the propagate-ttl=no only on the edge it works as it should.

But the problem with packetloss if routing-test and the mpls-beta is installed on any of the Provider routers in the LSP still exist. There is no problem as long as the betas are installed on the edge.

Sorry for the misinformation about the propagate-ttl.

Actually propagate-ttl is not negotiated in any way - to have consistent behaviour across your network you have to set it up the same on all routers in MPLS cloud. At least in ingress and egress ones, because propagate-ttl is used on router that pushes first label on layer-3 packet (ingress) and removes last label (egress).

And my download button doesn't work now in files list - the one that down loaded the corrupt version of .17 last nite.

Thank you,

OK - followup - FTP in Dude works great!!! Any idea how I can do all the units at the same time???
Besides setting the scheduler - that is.
Thank you,

MetaRouter is XEN-like hypervizor , but it is tailored for use on MIPSBE RouterBoards. it does not use extra harddrive storage to store system files. Basically, all is needed is more space to store new configuration, because at boot, it loads same RouterOS that is on the nand already, just need separate memory to load it.

All I want to know is how to use the /metarouter interface commands to set up interfaces between real and virtual routers.

Why can't someone just provide a simple example ?

And no this is not documented in the xen wiki !

I can create virtual routers, I can configure them, I just can't work out the interface mapping.

MetaRouter is an awesome idea extended from the xen option of creating RouterOS VM's instantly, but seems a little limited in resources by only supporting the RB400 series. Any plans on supporting the RB600 or RB1000 that would have more memory and storage available to use the solution in say a Data Center? We use the RB1000 and RB600 for some managed customer router and firewalls now, and are about to put together a dual proc x86 system to use RouterOS with Xen to create virtual RouterOS instances for customers, would be nice to just use the higher end RB's.
