Alfa AWPCI085H mini-pci card issue

Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:05 pm

Hello all,

I needed a high power transceiver card so I looked on the supported hardware list and saw the Alfa AWPCI085H. The specs for the card say it is capable of up to 27 dbm of transmit power but when I install it in my 433AH it says the default transmit power is 22 dbm at most. What gives? I thought this was a supported card?

Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks,
Jason

It's possible that it's not actually a 27dB card. RouterOS shows what it sees in the card's EEPROM chip.

Anyway, on this forum somebody said that these are not good cards.

I tried to do several searches to find which high powered cards people recommend but I wasn't able to find anything. Thanks for the info Normis, do you have any recommendations for a high power card (500mw or better) @2.4GHz that works well with RouterOS?

why do you need such high power? it will only aplify noise, and you will not get good results. you can do this only if yours is the only radio in the area, and there are absolutely perfect conditions

i suggest you to get R5H or R52 for example
