Hi,

I want to start a WISP for about 150 users in an area of about maximum of 5km. Please guide me which equipment should i use to setup base station.
One of my friend told me to use an 15db omni antenna with an AMP with a Linksys-G AP. I am totally new to wireless technology, right now running my own cable internet system on mikrotik PPPoE in my local area with almost 100 users.

Please help me out in this.

almost any MikroTik Routerboard will do the task. I recommend using a RB433AH

what kind of devices are the clients?

The first thing to make sure is..
Is you client can see the base station clearly? (mean the LOS)...

Distance for the 5KM is not the good idea for the point to Multipoint deployment exclude there is no any interference if you plan to use the sectorial antenna.

I am not into WISP but I have friends that are into WISP and their experience over time have made them stick to MKK for so many reasons(Ruggedity, simplity, result, cost, etc) both at the clients and the AP/Base/ISP end. navigate through the web and stick to this forum. Use the search button and put up good serch words to what you want.

I wish you all the best.
