Disconnecting the router

hi can anyone tell me why when i try to transfer something in the ftp client and try to connect to router via winbox is shown this message Router is disconnected or when i try to upload files via winbox to router my router hardisk is 20GB and when i try to connect to my router from INTERNET it works very slow or it disconnecting me and the internet speed is very slow
