can i user layer 7 for load balance and am i need hardware??

hello dear friends and brothers
this is my first topic here to make load balance use layer 7
am i need to any special switchers iam work on unmanaged switchers from linksys and some of it is new 3com

am i need any special hardware to work on layer 7 iam new in this technology

i will follow this examples in wiki and test it on my network
any onw give me hands and tell me

you have to have very powerful hardware to run a lot of layer7 rules to make diverse load balancing available.

i mean am i need to use special switchers or very good pc for that
i have speedtouch585 v router
and have netgear 834 router

so i have 2 pc one is : HP 7500 3.2/Mb cach/800 speed and 2GB ddr1 ram with 3 lans one dlike 10/100/100 so other one intel pro 10/100 and third one is broadcom 10/100/1000 on board

so i have other pc dell optiplex GX620 with 2.8/2MB cach/800 speed cpu
ram is 4 giga ddr2 kingston but system could not read all it so have 3 cards on broadcom on board and one netgear both of them are 10/100/1000 and have other intel pro 10/100

all my network switchers if linksys and have only 2 switchers are 3 com

am i need any other things
