R5H vs. XR5

Sat Aug 22, 2009 11:58 pm

Hi, has anyone tested and compared the performance of these 2 cards? We currently use XR5's for our backhaul links, but this is what I've noticed:

XR5 = Better signal and TX power/Less Throughput
R5H = Less signal and TX power/MORE Throughput

Has anyone else seen this?

hey
Yea have swapped out some xr5 cards with R5H and can honestly say so far for me they perform better then the XR5 card.
1. Less noise and interference (sound's strange but true)
2. More throughput, not really, about the same but definitely more stable throughput.
3. CCQ's wile pushing data much better.

Ps. it's a 64km link And will see if the R5h cards last as long as xr5 cards

R5H has lower power and slightly throughput BUT they are less reliable than the XR5.
The R5H has a much higher failure rate than the XR5.

We have few unit's (let say 8 of the 30 unit's card) was failure when deploy on site...
How we found he card is problem or failure? When we suspect the card is malfunction, we move the hand to the heatsink and found that card is very hot and some cause the routerboard was not working (Still pending mikrotik finding)...

But, the rest whichever have no problem, so far, it's perform very well...
erm, form my point of view...

-If the card problem, then that's problematic...
-If the card working well, then the performance is extreme good....

How i going to give comment?
