I'm working at a small WISP (1000 subscribers) that doesn't have any form of AAA set up, just using static assigned NAT addresses off the core router. Wireless gear is Trango, but that's not entirely relevant to this question.
I have a RB450G that I'm trying to set up as a learning experience and proof-of-concept before we go out and buy a RB1000 or other mikrotik solution. I have the basic config done, I updated it to 3.30 and installed the user-manager package. Tried following the steps in these pages, but I'm not sure what prerequisites they are expecting but I can't seem to connect over PPPoE with my laptop on the port I set up.

I requested additional public IPs from our upstream provider thinking I would use PPPoE to dynamically assign public addresses, we have problems with our nat (or double-nat, as every customer also has a router) killing some online banking, novell web access, FTP, etc. I don't mind continuing to use NAT if it isn't a headache for management.
So what is the best way to set this up?
Thanks!
