MTU needed for Remote Desktop

Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:20 am

Hi Guys

Client having an issue with RDP...think its MTU as client can log in but gets DC after a few seconds.

What mtu is needed for RDP to work properly? Currently it is going over a pptp tunnel wit mtu of 1460.

I use RD over PPTP with the default MTU of 1460 and it works perfectly through v3.19 and v4.2

Do you have "Change TCP MSS" checked in the ppp profile? It should be turned on.

yes that is checked,

However, "use compression" and "VJ compression" are both also ticked...Should they be default? ( I did not setup this client)

I have them both on "default".

Is the ppp session disconnecting, or just the RD session?

Does everything else work? File share, Internet, etc?

It's used for internet which works fine...

I think the problem was they were pptp tunnelling over another pptp over a pppoe

So I removed both pptp tunnels and routed normally, will report back if it solves the issue

thanks
