I have an rb433 (v4.2) installed at a remote location (router only). Randomly it stops transmitting any data requiring a reboot. Today I went to the location and noticed that even the though i could not ping it on either wan (ether1) or LAN (ether3) side i was able to connect to the unit via mac using Winbox. My question is, what should i be looking at? Could something on the network be causing this unit to behave this way, maybe something within the firewall that doesn't rear it's head at other sites? I did try unplugging each side to see if i could ping the other but had no success. After a reboot the unit seems to come back. It all seems rather random, month can go by, and the logs don't show any problems. Last thing in the log is DHCP lease messages. We have about 6 other sites setup almost identical to this one. The exception being the networks. So before I go too crazy i was hoping to get some ideas on what steps i should start with. To isolate hardware being an issue i have replaced the unit for another but if hardware isn't the issue..
The network behind the router is natted. 10.10.59.0/24
The Wan side is a routable address on a /29 network.
Thanks,
Rae.
