BGP Configuration in Mikrotik-X86

Sat Dec 05, 2009 9:39 am

Hello,

I am planning of configuring IBGP in a Mikrotik X86 Server which is having the following specifications :

Server Model - IBM-X 8676 Series
RAM - 2 GB
Hard Disk - 300 GB
CPU Count - 4

Just curious to know whether the above specifications are sufficient for IBGP implementation for the purpose of Multihoming with 2 different routers of the same ISP and will be accepting only one /24 network and a default routes with different preference from the ISP.

Also want to know whether " Loopback - IP " & " Route Maps " Configuration is possible in Mikrotik.

Please Suggest.....

Regards,
Rakesh .

You are just mentioning the eBGP specs (ISP with fallback). And for that the serverspecs are more than enough.

Also want to know whether " Loopback - IP " & " Route Maps " Configuration is possible in Mikrotik ie the terminology as I am aware of Cisco and Juniper.

route maps? is it policy routing or route filters? both is possible in MT

for Loopback IP, create a bridge interface and add IP adress to it

Loopback IP is configured by creating a null bridge and adding an IP to it.

Route Maps are simply policies applied to incoming routes. This is done with route filters in Mikrotik.
