XR2 problems, check your AP's

Tue Dec 22, 2009 8:52 pm

AP: RB411A, SR2, Nstreme (best fit 3200) overall CCQ 95+
Clients RB411, R52H.
All software is 3.30 with wireless test on all CPE's and AP.
AP RF modulation is default. Clients are limited to 24-36mbps depending on ccq qaulity

29 clients all with -70 or better signal, 80+ CCQ,
Clients limited to 1.3mb down and 300k up, limited by Radius or access list.
If any single client is down loading their max 1.3mbps then the latencies go up to 1-2 seconds and no other through put is available to any other client. Ap's total traffic is maxed at about 1.5mbps

If clients are limited to down loading at 1 or 1.2 mbps latency is typically under 30ms until the AP hits about 5mbps when the latency jumps to 200ms +. AP appears to max out at 6-7mps. Tested with and with out Nstreme Same results.

Tested other APs with as few as 4 clients and and various software revisions back to 3.23 on ap and 3.10 on cpe's problem was

Uploads work fine, I have not been able to duplicate issue on any of our XR5 APs, XR9's show the problem but they are based on the XR2. Does not appear to be RF as stats are good and the same results are obtained regardless of location and client load. No hidden node as nstreme is used and problem exists with only 3 or 4 clients

As the temperature is in the -20 or colder right now it is not possible to easily change out cards to a different brand to test.

This issue appears to go back some time but was not noticed as the AP's had light loads and few large down loads, and we don't normally ping other clients when doing a download test.

I hope some other out there can test to confirm my issue and possibly swap to a different brand card to see if the problem is cured. As it is -20c or colder right now a tower swap is not easy to do.

Thanks

we have same proble. Problem still not solved, all i know, it's not radio bug. We did change RB532A + 3x wistron cm-11 to RB433AH + XR5 + SR2 + SR5, result the same. When total traffic on 2.4 reach >4.7Mbps, all clients get average latency over 100ms. Even on local (AP to client ping). But no problems on 5Ghz (5300Mhz). All clients have noce latency (<3ms local AP, <20ms Local country servers, 50-70ms foreign servers)
