Hotspot for conference room, 200 connections

Fri Jan 15, 2010 2:46 pm

Hi,

I need to prepare for a conference a device that will deliver wireless access for around 200 laptops.

My first thought is one or maybe more RB433AH + 3 x R52, each operating in 1,6,11 channels.

If someone has any ideeas and suggestions, you are most welcomed :)

Thank you

Make sure you set the max clients on each wireless interface. You don't want everyone connecting to one radio.

All I have on stock is rb 400 series and 600 series :)
I was thinking at two rb433AH, with 6 miniPCI's, with 2 ap's on ch.1 , 2 on ch.6 and 2 on ch.11
Each AP should have a 40 client limit, and in that way i'll have a limit of 240 clients.
Bandwidth limited at 512kbps / IP, so the maximum bandwidth will be 100mbps per 200 IP's, and 20mbps per AP.

My problem is, how to load balance the users, how to have one single AP, and that AP to assign each connection to a wlan card.

You'll need to use pcq to load balance amongst the users.
