RB1000U EOL?

Thu Feb 11, 2010 8:03 pm

Hi,

my distributor told me that RB1000U (rb1000 rackable) is not available because it is in end of life.

Is that correct?

Thank you

Can't find the thread right now, but someone else asked that question a little while ago and Mikrotik staff confirmed it.

Yes, the RB1000U is being EOLed. Some distributors still have units in stock. The RB1000 is still available from Mikrotik.

In that other thread (which I can't find right now either) Normis mentioned they are working on a replacement and hinted that it *might* be announced at an upcoming MUM. That's currently the only information that's been posted on the forums that I've seen.

missinlnk is correct. Some distributors have stock. Others don't. I suspect an announcement at MUM this month.

Funny, ... the other thread was removed while I was preparing a post to it.

I saw the other day that the forum admins (I presume) removed the thread. I guess because it got off topic somewhat or maybe because it did not lead anywhere.
Let's hope the new product that replaces the RB1000 meets our expectations! :D

Ouch... I really hope that there's a replacement ready as soon as the MUM announcement, since the RB1000U is quite an important product for me and my business. In my opinion, it's the most professional product that MikroTik offers, and as such, the product I ship to the more demanding customers. That said, the RB1000 platform has been needing an overhaul for a long time, so I have my hopes up for some of the improvements this forum has been requesting.

I think that normis (or another MT employee) pulled the thread because I made some constructive criticism.

normis,

I'm happy about that as I thought I had caused major offence to mods/Mikrotik.

Those in the United Kingdom who are still after RB1000U can purchase from Loop Scorpio (http://www.loopscorpio.net/); who are an official Mikrotik distributor.

MultiThreaded Consultants Ltd t/a LinITX.com are still saying 'out of stock'.

Just to avoid any confusion, MultiThread Consultants Ltd (linitx.com) are also official Mikrotik Distributors.

(usual disclaimer, not affiliated with linitx.com, just a happy customer!)

Looks like the New Product Announcement in today's email explains it:

"RB1100 13-port gigabit rackmount router"
