UM + Hotspot + Bypass HTTP with a router

Tue Feb 23, 2010 6:23 am

Hi. can you please advise me the best configuration to do?

Say that I have a Hotspot running well with User Manager as Radius Server on a RB1000U
We have this Hotspot setup on 192.168.200.0/24
Now say that our main reason to have Mikrotik and Hotspot is to track and log amount of data usage monthly.

We have corporate and home users.
Some user will user the HTTP login page. Others will have a Router connected to Mikrotik Hotspot.
Those with the router, I would like to bypass the HTTP login page. I want the router to login on hotspot on the same user database as Hotspot.
Is that possible?

What is the easiast way to do it?

Basically, I just want the firewall to login on the hotspot network.
PPPoE?
PPTP?

Can I use on the same subnet, 192.168.200.0/24 or do I have to create a second subnet? Can I have a single user database for all my business, but using diferent ways to login? Thanks!

I've been checking some topics like this below but I'm not sure whats the right thing.

Don't use PPPoE and Hotspot on the same interface. Run clients that need a captive gateway on the Hotspot, make a second interface to run PPPoE clients on and log corporate clients in via that.
