RouterOS and WPA (TKIP/AES)

Wed Aug 10, 2005 12:38 pm

Hello,

does RouterOS supports WPA-TKIP or WPA-AES for prism and/or atheros based radios?
Will en/decrypting traffic hit the systems's CPU?

I plan to build a hotspot with prism 802.11b user access and atheros based uplink and want to use wpa for security.

I think the linux hostap project supports WPA for prism based cards.
But I want to use RouterOS, because of its nice management functions.

Best regards,

Tobias.

RouterOS does support WPA-PSK in version 2.9, which is still a release candidate right now.
If I recall correctly, this is only supported on Atheros cards. There it doesn't affect performance, as encryption is done in hardware on the Atheros cards.
