You can look at RouterBOARD 433/433x boards,
http://routerboard.com/
PC is not required.

If you already have the APs you can go with a Rb750g or rb450g, both are under $100 bucks and no need for a PC.

thanks for the replys.

My doubt now is if the router board mikrotik will do captive portal for all the users coming from the dlink 2100 aps.

you can use the mikrotik radius server "aka User Manager" and you don't need a pc just a routerboard :)

It will work fine, but if you have thousands of accounts, you would benefit from an external RADIUS server database. However, this still doesn't mean you can use RouterBOARD for handling the actual AP with the login pages. Just the DB would be elsewhere.

I am using a 750G for captive portal w/ userman (aka radius) on the same device. ~25 users at a marina with 3 WDS AP's. It is working great and the client loves it (I upgraded to ROS level 5, but you should be fine with 18 users).

would it work using RB750 for 50 users?
- CP/DHCP
- AAA to external RADIUS
- FIREWALL
