2 or 3 DSL modems built-in

Mon Jun 07, 2010 7:01 pm

Hello Fellows
Is it possible to get a small factor MT board with 2 o 3 built-in DSL modems? I want to do load balancing and if possible, I wanted to get the modems built right into the MT box. Several reasons 1) less clutter(cosmetics); 2) less points of failure; 3) have a single backup unit. I am working on a project and will need to install the exact same setup in at least 4 different locations. If this is possible I would keep a single MT unit as a spare rather than a MT unit and a modem. BTW, by small form factor I mean something along the lines of RB750G or RB450.

Thanks

This is what I would like to see:

An RB750 modified to allow one, two (or three as the OP requested) DSL lines to be connected into one or more of the Ethernet ports.

Explanation: Fast Ethernet does not use the middle two wires (Pins 4 + 5) for anything and a standard RJ-11 connector inserted into an RJ-45 port would result in the DSL line being terminated on Pins 4 + 5 of the Ethernet interface; ability to switch the purpose of the port could be configurable in RouterOS, physical switch, etc, etc.

If the device could offer IPv6, MLPPP or both with wireless a welcome bonus at a price point not too much above the current RB750 product, MikroTik would see us order at least two hundred in the first year alone.

At the moment, there is no all-in-one cost-effective hardware solution for customers wanting multilink ADSL.
