Multiple DSL bridges in one ethernet port

Fri Jun 11, 2010 4:25 am

Hi.
Is that possible to have 4 DSL lines in bridge mode at one ethernet port on a RB1000? And so the 4 static public IP's will be straight on RB1000?

If yes, which is the best way to do it? Connect 4 dsl lines on a switch and this switch to the ethernet port?
Or it needs to be on separate ethernet ports?
How would it be configured?

Many thanks

I don't think that will work. However you could have 1 DSL line and (if the ISP supports it) get a framed route over the single PPPoE connection. Only downside would be all IP's sharing the single DSL.

Perhaps describe what you are trying to do... the good thing about MT devices is there is always more then one solution.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Basically what I was expecting is that RB1000 would be able to pickup the public external IPs from 3 or 4 dsl lines straight, so I can route them to different clients with different applications, make load balancing, etc. Let me know if it makes sense.
And also because since RB1000 has 4 ethernet ports, I wouldnt be able to use 4 dsl lines there at the same time. I was planning to keep 2 ssid vlans that would use 2 ethernet ports.

Cheers, thanks for the help.

you may use VLAN switch - in that case 1 ethernet per router is enough ))

I have a VLAN switch. What about if I create 4 different VLANS for each DSL line and connect to the RB with a trunk, would it work? Thanks
