hotspot wired

Fri Jul 02, 2010 10:49 am

Hi,

I have the following scenario. a hotspot connected to an ADSL and 4
Ethernet LAN ports connected to multiple switches.

I want to isolate the clients connected to these switches between them, so
that they only view the hotspot. I know that creating VLANS
be done, but I have not always control these switches and
I need a solution in the hotspot.

I tried it with a Hotspot Handlink and has an option of "Layer 2
Isolation Security" which effectively prevents the clients are seen
between them. This is achieved by poisoning the ARP table of the switches and
computers making them think that it is the destination to all requests.

I need to reproduce this with Mikrotik, is it possible?

Thanks you

You can't truly do that further away than the port the client plugs into. Even the method you found with a different product can easily be defeated by manually controlling the ARP table on the client to prevent the poisoning. Buy switches that let you implement layer 2 security, everything else is just a smoke screen.
