5.8 PtP link low Bandwidth?

Sat Jul 10, 2010 11:25 pm

Hello,
I have recently added a 5.8 backhaul and I am having very low bandwidth testing.
I have one 5.8 set to AP bridge with nstreme on and the other set to station pseudobridge with nstreme on.

The link is maybe 3-4 miles in distance.
If I do a udp bandwidth test I get around 2.5 Mbps on the Tx and anywhere from 1.0 kbps to 100 kbps on the Rx.
I have changed which unit is the master and slave with same results. I have also tested different frequencies with no major differences.

My other backhauls are set up like this and I normally get 20 Mbps to 32 Mbps on my bandwidth tests on them.

Any suggestions on what might be the problem?

Thanks!

Turn off nstream. It does not help when you are dropping packets. I suspect you are doing that but hard to tell without more details.

What is the CCQ at each end?

What are the signals strengths at each end?

Did you scan each end to see what spectrum was used and what was available?

Signals are: -63 & -62
Tx/Rx CCQ: hovering around 90/97% to 98/100%
signal to noise is 40 dB
P Throughput: 30502 kbps

RB433AH
1 R52H card connected to a Rootena 5.8 22db panel
1 XR9 card conected to a 900mghz Omni

The other end is a
RB433AH
1 R52H card connected to a Rootena 5.8 22db panel

I did scan and there is only my other 5.8's 3 of them on different frequencies.
Pretty clean environment and should be a rock solid link.

Is there any other information you might need?

Thanks guys!

What ver. of ROS are you running. I had a few links that had same problem while running ver. 4.X, downgraded to 3.30 and everything has been running fine for a few months now. If you are running ver. 4.x try turning off nstreme.
