Problems on running production server

Fri Jul 16, 2010 2:13 am

Hello, im running 2 servers with mt 4.10 lv4 license on 2 equal AMD Phenom II x4 955 @3.2 ghz 2gbRAM @1600mhz

Regarding to nic setups i got in sv1 2 "Intel PRO/1000PT (EXPI9300PT) PCIe1x", and the onboard realtek gigabit rtl8169

on the other sv i got the onboard (same as above) and the Intel PRO/1000PT (same as above)

SV1 is configured as Gateway Router managing NAT (for Public IPS) and general firewall.
SV2 is configured as a transparent bridged traffic shaper.

those svs are connected between them.

SV1--->SV2--->
Cisco catalyst 2924C XL
|-->Internal LAN and management.
|-->WISP AP all mt4.x on routerboards (various)
|-->PTP links (mt4.6)--->WISP APs

Every 8 to 10 minutes i get a 5 to 10 ping loss (simultaneously) in both servers.

Tests ive made:

Ping from SV1 to Internet (http://www.google.com) smooth 4ms max without loss
Ping from SV1 to SV2 ping loss every 8 to 10 minutes*
Ping from SV1 to internal lan ping loss every 8 to 10 minutes*
Ping from SV2 to SV1 ping loss every 8 to 10 minutes*
Ping from SV2 to internal lan ping loss every 8 to 10 minutes*
Ping from Internal LAN to SV1 or SV2 loss every 8 to 10 minutes*

* All at the same time

Ive also checked the cables, switches, power cords..

whenever i get the loss every connection i have on gets disconnected..
for example: if im playing an online game i get kicked!

im trying to figure out whats the problem.. i already know its in those servers but i need ur opinion.

btw, i upgraded the pcs and the problem started, before that i was running them on pentium D @3ghz with 512mb RAM@400mhz and 3com 10/100 nics. Never had loss..

can the problem be the mt 4.10? or the AMD processor? or the RAM? routing? idk...

Whatever info u need just feel free to ask and ill post it.

regards.

Pablo

Since you changed hardware, you have to troubleshoot one item at a time. Were you using the same version of RouterOS before? Have you tried disabling multi-cpu?
