This has nothing to do with ROS, but just wanted to know. Can a POE switch provide different voltage levels? If so, which model? Thank.

Thanks for the response. I was more thinking in line of a swich that you can set the voltage level at each port, or block of ports. For example on a 12 port switch, I could set ports 1 to 4 for 18V, ports 5 to 8 for 24V and ports 9 to 12 for 48VDC. Is anything like that available? Can I modify a switch to make it a POE switch by just putting the appropriate pins on the port at the voltage levels required. Pls advise.

Here is a link to a POE switch that can do 0VDC, 12VDC, 24VDC, and finally 48VDC.

Willtech, it is something like that that I am looking for, just with at least 12 ports, and preferably rack mountable/interior use. Thanks.

If a switch says that it supports PoE then it uses the 802.3af standard. So no there is no way to specify non standard PoE on switches as far as I know unless the are specifically built for it, I.E. Cisco having backwards compatibility with their own old style PoE.
