RB750G Latency SSTP

Thu Nov 04, 2010 5:00 pm

Hi Guys. first post here. I have got two RB750's connected by two wireless bridges. When i ping through the SSTP tunnel i have created i have latency of 15ms, but when i ping bypassing the SSTP tunnel i have latency on the wireless link 1ms
Is this correct ? Does SSTP increase latency by that much ?

Regards

ED

Dunno.. Im pinging from my RB1000 to a RB450g client. avg 61ms ping through tunnel, avg 56ms ping outside of tunnel.

Its gonna take some time to process the packets.

I think SSTP does cause a little more latency. On my IPSEC links, it adds maybe 1ms at worst.

Could it be MTU, my UBNT wireless bridges can only pass 1500?

To be on the safe side, I lock all my SSTP connections at a 1400MTU, they all go over the internet, so some are 1480MTU, others 1500. There doesnt seem to be any real clear # as to what the ideal MTU is for SSTP.
