Transferring database

Wed Nov 10, 2010 10:50 am

Hi, up to now I have been running UserManager on a RB450. It started out as a test, but soon ended up been production.
Now I am trying to transfer the Usermanager database from the rb450 on to a proper x86 machine.

When I do
/tool user-manager save

....it is unable to finish but creates a file. When I ftp ths file to the donor box it tells me the file is broken.

What could be wrong?

Thanks for your reply. It seems my problem is that there is not enough space on the rb450 to create the file. I only have 50 users on it.
I think if I can clear all the logs I should be fine, but that part is proving slow.
I am issuing the command

/tool user-manager log remove
numbers: 1-10000

I am also doing it 1000 at a time via http.

Surely there is a quicker way than this? At this stage this also worries me as what is going to happen to my x86 server when all the logs build up on it after months?

Yes I have contacted them via support@mikrotik.com but it takes nearly 48 hours to get a reply, and the conversation just seems to go on and on and on with no resolution in sight.

User Manager logs could be cleared by,
/tool user-manager log remove [find]

or alternative option by removing them from WEB interface.

If accounting settings are not too important. User Manager users and routers could be transferred by export command,
/tool user-manager router export
/tool user-manager user export.

P.S. support is not working on Saturday/Sunday. Maybe too fast answer is not possible due to difference with timezone.

Into your rb450 do: /tool user-manager database save name=userman.umb
then via ftp transfer userman.umb to x86 machine and into x86 do:
/tool user-manager database load name=userman.umb
And that is it :)

Did you try to export the users profiles, reset the UM to defaults and re-import the User profiles?

I am switching from UM v5RC4 to PPP Secrets until MT has a solid UM. I am done testing it and learning it.

I'm waiting as well, I'm still using the "old" version v4. I'm hoping the learning curve for the v5 UM isn't too much when it becomes usable.

Try with this:
/tool user-manager database rebuild

NetworkPro:
My userman in ver 3.x and now with 4.15 is working ok for more than 1 year ... why using beta ?
It is normal to be unstable ...

I agree.

If I wanted stable - I should have used the stable User Manager in v3 to 4.16.

For a new HotSpot project I would use a stable one.

Thank you.

I do hope MT releases a new v5 UM because I like it. And we need it for our business.
