DHCP-Relay to Win 2003 DHCP-Server

Wed Nov 10, 2010 11:02 am

Hello,

I've some problems setting up my RB750G.
I need to redirect the DHCP-requests from different VLAN's to my DHCP-Server. Here's my config:

[admin@MikroTik] /ip dhcp-relay> print
Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid
# NAME INTERFACE DHCP-SERVER LOCAL-ADDRESS
0 VLAN50 Schulungsraum5 192.168.179.100 192.168.50.254
1 VLAN60 Schulungsraum6 192.168.179.100 192.168.60.254
2 VLAN40 Schulungsraum4 192.168.179.100 192.168.40.254

I've also set up the scopes for the VLAN's on the server but didn't receive an IP-address in each of the vlan's.
Ping tests from each of the vlan's to the DHCP-Server are successful.

I hope, I can get some help here and sorry for my bad english. I'm from germany. :)

Thanks!!

Have you tried another DHCP server ? Say ISC DHCPD on Linux ? And turn-up the relay start-up option on the daemon ?

I once had an ISC DHCPD server with over 200 scopes, in 200 different IP subnets, but this was in a ROUTING environment.

I'm seeing that you are trying to achieve this in a BRIDGING environment and this may be an issue.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply!

I'm not sure, what you mean with bridging environment? I'm using this router to route between some vlans. The Router is on on a port of a manageable switch and on that switch where different vlans/subnets on each port. Cisco is calling that Router-on-a-stick.

I haven't tried a Linux server yet but I'll give it a try.

I'm saying that if the DHCP server has a route to each of the VLANs in which it has a SUBNET in which it will assign IP's it should work.

If on the other end, you only have a DHCPD server with multiple interfaces on a VLAN-ified Windows NIC, and you try to make use of the DHCP server on Windows to relay to a RouterOS Box, which has a leg into each VLANs.

If this makes a difference for you, go ahead and hit the Give Karma (to me...) button on the wiki.

Hi Matze502,

Sorry to warm up this cold case, but did you ever find a solution to your challenge? As I am facing the very same issue with a win2012 R2 DHCP server and a RB751U-2HnD.

Cheers,
Stefan
