As per that thread, I'd like to see SMTP Authorization added to Mikrotik.

Is the SMTP authentication coming in MikroTik OS any time soon?

SMTP Client Supporting Authentication

I would like to add my support for this request.
We are unable to use any SMTP functions in Mikrotik because our SMTP server requires authentication from Mikrotik's IP address. The reason for that is that we have clients behind NAT on the Mikrotik. So that we can identify who sends what e-mails (in the event of SPAM or e-mail viruses), we have our SMTP server require authentication from the Mikrotik's IP address.
The net effect is that we cannot have Mikrotik generate e-mails out to us.

I would love to see SMTP AUTH as well, however you can get around using it if you are sending things to yourself. You simply have Mikrotik use the server that the receipient mailbox is on and it won't need to authenticate. Since the receipient is on the server thats used to send with it is coming in just like any other mail. Basically don't relay it just send it to there server it needs to go to. You can customize the outbound server for each message in the script you have anyhow...

Take this one step further and allow Hotspot users to use their SMTP authentication to access the internet - that way they don't have to open a web browser to check their e-mail.

I would also appreciate if you can use SMTP Auth for the Hotspot SMTP redirect server:
/ip hotspot profile smtp-server
There is no way to configure an username/password for this server.
Please Mikrotik include this, there are enough GPL Linux solutions out there. You simply have to copy it ...
Thanks

I just encountered this problem. So yes, please please include the username/password smtp auth feature so we can use our smtp server to redirect emails from hotspot users. Smtp auth is so important - we got unwanted/unknown people trying to use our smtp server on daily basis, but they fail - thanks to it.
